Zoeva Eyeshadow Palettes | Cocoa Blend & Mixed Metals Review

Zoeva Eyeshadow Palettes | Cocoa Blend & Mixed Metals Review

Zoeva is a brand that has received so much love over the last couple of years, most famous for their makeup brushes (which look SO gorgeous!) and for their eye shadow palettes. All I seem to be seeing recently is amazing reviews and feedback about the palettes so naturally I had to get my hands on some and try them for myself! I decided to go for the 'Cocoa Blend' and 'Mixed Metals' eye shadow palettes which I purchased from Beauty Bay.

The palettes come in cardboard packaging with a magnetic closure. This is maybe one of the only downsides about the palettes as cardboard can get worn very quickly and they don’t have mirrors on the inside which is always useful. However, this is not really an issue as the quality of the shades makes up for that. Also, the packaging is so pretty and matches the shades in the palette perfectly!

These palettes retail at £18 each on Beauty Bay, which is fairly cheap for an eye shadow palette compared to most higher end makeup brands. I would normally assume that if you are buying cheaper eye shadows then you usually sacrifice on the quality, however Zoeva has changed my mind on this!

Cocoa Blend

Zoeva Eyeshadow Palette Cocoa Blend Review

Cocoa Blend caught my eye as soon as I saw a few of bloggers talking about it and when I saw pictures I fell in love with the shades. The warm-toned shades are just absolutely beautiful and perfect for Autumn/Winter eye looks.

One thing I love about this palette is that is it so versatile, you can create an everyday natural look or a dramatic smokey eye. It contains a mixture of matte, satin and shimmer finishes. Most of the shades are deep, dark colours however it does give you a couple of light shades for highlighting and using in the crease. It literally has everything you need to create a range of looks!

The quality of the eye shadows is great, they are so pigmented and apply really well. However, the matte shades aren’t quite as impressive as the shimmer and satin finishes.

I also love that each of the shades has a name and is labelled on the palette, this is something you don’t always get with cheaper palettes and I find it so much easier to remember which shade is which.

Mixed Metals

I wasn’t actually planning on buying the Mixed Metals palette when I was purchasing Cocoa Blend, but after coming across it on Beauty Bay and falling in love with the shades I couldn’t resist! All of these shades are metallic and a mix of copper, platinum and aluminum silver. Some of them are slightly more shimmery and glittery than others, but they all have a metallic finish that is just gorgeous. Although I do like matte shades for the crease and base colours etc, shimmery shades are definitely my favourite and I go for them every day.

The shades in the Mixed Metals palette are intensely pigmented, it really is very impressive for the price! I think the pigmentation on these metallic shades is actually better than the matte shades in the Cocoa Blend palate. The more metallic the shade, the more buttery, almost creamy, it is and they are so lovely to apply.

Top row from left to right:

Alloy - Lilac toned metallic mauve.
Neo Brass - Golden olive green.
Bronce - Metallic sage green.
Rusty Steel - Warm red toned bronze.
Copper Plate - Deep rusty copper.

Bottom row from left to right:

Warm Silver - Silver toned pastel pink.
Platinum - Lilac toned silver.
Ore Stone - Deep shimmering teal.
Aluminum - Deep cool grey shimmer.
Onyx - True black with golden shimmer.

I have actually been using the Mixed Metals palette more than Cocoa Blend which I wasn’t expecting!

As you can probably tell, I absolutely love both of these Zoeva palettes and I'm so glad I purchased them. Zoeva have a range of other eye shadow palettes as well which look amazing so I'm sure I'll give in and buy another soon!

Have you tried any of the Zoeva palettes?
