Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks Review

Urban Decay Vice Lipstick Review

A couple of months ago Urban Decay launched their new Vice Lipstick range – one of their biggest launches yet featuring 100 shades of lipstick in six different finishes. When I first heard about this launch I was ridiculously excited, I am a massive lipstick lover, I’m not going to admit how many I own!  Until now Urban Decay hasn’t been one of the brands I associated that much with lipsticks, I know they are hugely famous for the incredible Naked eye palettes but I don’t see much about their lip products. This has all changed now – the Vice range of lipsticks is a serious game changer and Urban Decay have definitely made their mark in the lipstick department. The face of the Vice lipstick launch is the amazing Ruby Rose, I love her and her style so much and she fits perfectly into Urban Decay’s brand.

I was kindly sent five of the Vice lipsticks to try out and review on my blog and I could not have been happier when they arrived on my doorstep! The colours are absolutely gorgeous and a good selection out of the 100 there are to choose from. I wanted to try them out straight away and see what they were like but obviously I had to get some snaps first (blogger problems). Once I took some photos to share on my blog I tried out each one and I have been so excited to share my thoughts.

All of the lipsticks are formulated with Aloe vera, jojoba, avocado, babassu oils and Illipe butter, Vitamin C and Vitamin E.  The combination of all of these creates a wonderful lipstick with hydrates the lips, leaving them soft and conditioned and provides long lasting moisture – even from the really matte lipsticks. Seriously impressive so far!

The Vice lipsticks come in a metallic tube with gold on the bottom which I really love. Each lipstick is also embossed with the Urban Decay logo which is a really nice touch. The shade of the lipstick is shown on a label on the bottom, I love this as it allows you to find the one you want really quickly.

The lipsticks are divided into six different finishes, Urban Decay describes them as:

Mega Matte - super-intense matte
Comfort Matte - our creamiest matte
Cream - the original creamy, badass luxury
Metallized - cream with a high level of pearl
Sheer - a punch of color with a sheer, shiny finish
Sheer Shimmer - slightly transparent finish with floating pearl and a smooth texture

The shades I received from left to right above and below are: Pandemonium (mega matte), Firebird (cream), 714 (mega matte), Big Bang (metallized) and Backtalk (comfort matte).

After trying each one I can honestly say I love all of these formulas. My favourite is definitely the comfort matte, as I love matte lips and with this one it isn’t drying at all. I also love the metallized finish as I just love the glitter metallic effect on the lips. Mega matte is great if you want something really long lasting, however it is slightly drying. Cream is perfect if you have dry lips, but it’s not quite as long lasting as the matte finishes. I didn’t receive any of the sheer finishes so can’t comment on these ones but I’m sure they are lovely too.

I love each of the shades I received – pinks, nudes and reds are my favourite lip colours so these are just perfect. The only one I can’t see myself using is Pandemonium, I just can’t brave a bright purple lip unfortunately it’s not for me.

If had to choose a favourite (although it is very hard) I would say Backtalk. It is a gorgeous mauve nude pink and I have been wearing it all the time as it’s the perfect neutral everyday shade. I also really love Big Bang – bright pink and glitter are my two favourite things!

The pigmentation of the lipsticks is amazing in each of these finishes, but especially the mega matte – 714 is the most pigmented, bold red lipstick I have tried.

The Vice lipsticks retail at £15 each, I think this is a really reasonable and affordable price for such high quality lipsticks. As you can probably tell by now, I seriously love these lipsticks and I really recommend them. Thank you to Urban Decay for sending me five to try out – I already have my eye on a couple more in the range which I will definitely be purchasing soon. There really is a shade for everyone!

Have you tried any of these Urban Decay Vice Lipsticks? What’s your favourite shade?
