ICEBAR LONDON #BloggersBelowZero

Icebar LondonIcebar London
Icebar London

Last week I attended the #BloggersBelowZero event at Icebar London. If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you might have already seen me talking about how excited I was and how much fun this evening was. Ever since moving to London I have really wanted to go to the Icebar so I was seriously excited when this opportunity came up! It was such a great evening and definitely lived up to the hype around it, I have been so excited to write this post and share my experience in the Icebar.

The evening began with a welcome chat from Tom the Head of Sales and Marketing at Icebar, he told us everything we needed to know about the Icebar including how it is made which was so interesting to learn about. He explained how the Icebar changes it's theme from time to time, the current theme is  Rock which I thought was absolutely great. The detail on the ice is just amazing. There is a video on the Icebar website showing the process of what goes into putting the Icebar together which I recommend watching if you are interested in going.

After this it was time to enter the Icebar itself - we were split into groups and each went in for around 40 minutes. We were given thermal coats and gloves which were definitely needed! As expected, the Icebar was absolutely freezing (it is -5 degrees to be exact!) and 40 minutes was the perfect amount of time to be in there.

The bar had to be the coolest bar I've ever ordered a drink from, excuse the pun but I just had to! It's not often you can say you ordered a cocktail from a bar made of completely of ice and had it served in a glass made completely from ice.

Current Fave Casual Outfit | Bershka & New Look

Current Fave Casual OOTD
I have been wanting to start doing some fashion posts on my blog for awhile now but I just haven't got round to it. I have to admit I have partly been putting it off because I am not very confident when it comes to having someone take photos of me and I have zero experience trying to pose and look good in front of a camera! The other reason is that I just don't have time along side a full time job to spend time out and about shooting different outfits. However, last weekend I was browsing Oxford Street with my friend and decided to take this opportunity to get some pictures of one of my current favourite everyday outfits. Massive thanks to her for taking the photos!

Mac Rebel Lipstick Review

MAC Rebel Lipstick review
MAC Rebel Lipstick review

The latest MAC lipstick to join my collection is Rebel. This is one of those shades that looks very different in the tube than it actually looks on the lips so it can be misleading. I had seen Rebel at MAC counters in the past but I didn’t pay much attention to it as I thought it was too much of a dark purple, that was until I saw a picture of another blogger wearing it and completely fell in love. As you can see from my swatch further below, Rebel is much more of a deep raspberry pink rather than the dark purple it looks in the tube.

Favourite Posts of 2015

I have seen a few bloggers over the last couple of week's sharing their favourite blog posts from 2015 and I think this is such a nice idea. It's been great to reread some posts I have absolutely loved and also come across a few I have missed from some of my favourite bloggers. I thought I would share with you what my favourite posts are from 2015. It's so nice to take look back at my first full year of blogging, I am so happy I blog as I enjoy it more and more everyday!

Below is a list of my top 10 posts from 2015 in order of the date posted. If you have enjoyed reading any of these posts please do let me know.

Healthy Chicken and Sweet Potato Curry - Over the last year I have been trying not to limit my blog to just beauty related posts and this is the first food post I have written. I absolutely love this curry, it is so healthy and I really recommend it if you looking for something new to try. I am hoping to post more recipes on my blog throughout 2016.

One Year Blog Anniversary - In 2015 I celebrated my one year blog anniversary. I really enjoyed writing this personal post about my blogging experience to date.

How To Tint Your Eyebrows - I learnt how to tint my eyebrows for the first time in 2015 and ever since I have been tinting them myself around once a month. It is so easy to do yourself and save money, have a look at this post if you are interested to see how I do it.

Big Blogger Conference - This was another one of my favourite moments of 2015 - it was such a fun day which I really enjoyed being a part of. Going to blogger events since starting blogging and moving to London has been so amazing and definitely one of the best things to come out of blogging.

SEVENTEEN Easy On The Eye Palettes | Birthday Suit & The Big Smoke

SEVENTEEN Easy On The Eye Palettes - Birthday Suit & The Big Smoke SEVENTEEN Easy On The Eye Palettes - Birthday Suit & The Big Smoke
I am a huge fan of SEVENTEEN makeup after trying a few of their products last year and really loving them, so when I was sent these Easy on the Eye palettes* to try out I was so excited!  I mentioned in my last post about SEVENTEEN how they have seriously upped their game with their new branding and these eye palettes are no different. They come in a black plastic casing which is very neat and slim, it also has a big mirror inside which I find really useful. As well as this, the palettes come with a double ended brush and a guide with lots of looks to try out. The brush isn’t great, however it is a lot better than I would expect from a palette which costs £7.99.
SEVENTEEN Easy On The Eye Palette - Birthday Suit

The first of the Easy on the Eye palettes is 'Birthday Suit' which is pictured above. This is probably my favourite of the two as I just absolutely love neutral shades and wear them every day. It contains 12 shades in total, 8 that are powder eye shadows varying from matte and shimmer formula, 3 metallic creams and 1 clear eye primer. I love that fact that this palette contains a range of finishes like this as it makes it perfect for traveling when you don't want to take too many different items with you.

The shades in this palette are individually named which I think is a great plus, as normally cheaper palettes are just numbered. The top row left to right - Gentle Pink, Sun Kissed Peach, Cool Rose, Toasted Almond, Bronzed Buff, Pink Flush. The bottom row left to right - Warm Ivory, Radiant Gold, Warm Mink, Baked Chestnut, Burnt Copper, Eye Primer. I'm not really a massive fan of the eye primer and metallic cream shades, as I feel the formula isn't great and they are a bit sticky. However for a palette at this price I can't really complain. The powder eye shadows on the other hand are great! The quality is quite impressive and they are very pigmented. My current favourites are Toasted Almond and Bronzed Buff which I have been using together for a daytime look.

SEVENTEEN Easy On The Eye Palette - The Big Smoke
The second of the Easy on the Eye palettes pictured above is 'The Big Smoke'. This palette is the same structure as 'Birthday Suit' so it has 8 powders, 3 metallic creams and one eye primer and each shade is individually named. Top row from left to right - Twilight Blue, Cocoa Brown, Smoky Marble, Wild Khaki, Cool Aluminium, Illuminated Bronze. Bottom row from left to right - Onyx Black, Slate Grey, Cloudy Lilac, Warm Ivory, Pink Flush, Eye Primer.

Again, I am not a fan of the primer in this palette, but I do actually prefer the metallic creams in this one. The shades in this palette are absolutely gorgeous and they are perfect for a smoky eye look. I like to use this palette for evening, night out looks which are slightly more dramatic and the metallic creams are amazing underneath the powders to create a more intense finish. My current favourite shades from this palette are Smoky Marble and Onyx Black which is such a gorgeous purple shade.
SEVENTEEN Easy On The Eye Palettes - User Guide
As I mentioned earlier, each of these eye palettes comes with a guide of how to create a range of different makeup looks which you can see above. This is such a nice extra which I think is great to get with a cheaper priced palette. After trying out each of these Easy on the Eye palettes a few times I can most definitely say I really like them both. The quality of the powder eye shadows is great and I love the overall packaging. They retail at £7.99 each and are available from Boots, they are currently on offer for £6.99 online here if you are interested.

Yet again I am really impressed with SEVENTEEN and it has just made me love the brand even more! Have you tried either of these Easy on the Eye palettes? What are your favourites from SEVENTEEN?

Top 10 Moments of 2015

Top 10 Moments of 2015

Happy New Year! I can’t believe how long it’s been since I published a blog post. Towards the end of 2015 I was really struggling with keeping up with my blog and although I didn’t plan on having a break from blogging it just kind of happened. I’m glad it did though, I managed not to feel too guilty about my lack of blogging and now I am feeling more motivated than ever to continue blogging as it is something I am passionate about and really enjoy. If you ever feel guilty about not blogging as much as you like I have written a post with some tips to get rid of bloggers guilt.

I have really been enjoying reading everyone’s 2015 reflection posts over the last couple of weeks so I thought I would kick off 2016 with my own overview of the year. I almost didn’t want to write this post as 2015 has been a bit of an up and down year for me.

A few years ago I had surgery to correct scoliosis (curvature of the spine) and had metal rods and screws placed either side of my spine to straighten it. Until recently, I had relatively no back pain, but mid 2015 I injured my lower back and have been suffering the rest of the year with pain. As a result of this I have spent a lot of time feeling down and frustrated. I don’t want to go into it too much at the moment, but I hope in the future to write a full post and share my experience with scoliosis, as I know reading other people’s stories has definitely helped me. If this is something you would like to read please do let me know.

My back is gradually improving and now I am feeling more positive than ever. The last few months have made me stronger than ever and introduced me to the world of yoga, which is absolutely amazing! Something I also want to write about on my blog at some point this year.

Despite the challenges 2015 has been a great year for me and writing this post has made me realize that even more! I have picked out my top 10 moments to share with you all.

1. Moving to London – In January I made the move to London and started a new job, this was the best decision I have ever made. I love London life, I love my job, I am living closer to my boyfriend and have family and friends nearby.

2. Going to my first blogger event – Also in January I went to my first ever blogger event the #nyLDNmeet hosted by Lauren from Blonde Vision who is now one of my best friends! It was so lovely to meet other bloggers and was exactly what I needed after moving to a new city.

3. One of my best friends moving to London – In May one of my childhood best friends moved to London and now we live together. We went to school and university together and it is so amazing having her with me in London.

4. Holiday to Croatia – In June I went to Hideout festival in Croatia with my boyfriend, this was such an amazing holiday – read my Hideout Festival post for more about that.

5. Celebrating three years with my boyfriend – In July my boyfriend and I celebrated three years together, he surprised me by booking a meal in a gorgeous fish restaurant in London and we had such a great evening.

6. The Big Blogger Conference – In August Lauren organised her biggest blogger event so far, the Big Blogger Conference. I helped her out on the day with Abi from All Things That Glitter and it was so much fun and such a success!

7. Celebrating my Dad’s 60th birthday – In September I went back home for a long weekend with my family to celebrate my Dad’s 60th birthday. We went for a lovely meal in our favourite restaurant and had a lovely long dog walk on the beach. This was such a great weekend, since moving away from home it has made me value family time so much.

8. Halloween – In October I did a Halloween pub Crawl in Shoreditch with my boyfriend and best friend, this was so much fun – I love Halloween so much and dressing up!

9. Christmas in Swansea – I was lucky enough this year to get two full weeks off work for Christmas, so I spent this time at home in Swansea. It was so lovely to have some much needed family time and home comforts.

10. New Year’s Eve in Swansea – Although I did want to spend NYE in London as I live there now and have heard great things about it, I decided to stay in Swansea and make the most of being at home for as long as I could. My boyfriend and I went to a gorgeous restaurant at the top of the tallest building in Wales, ate amazing food and watched lots of fireworks.

So that's my roundup of 2015! I'm am looking forward to what 2016 brings.
