L'Oreal Infallible Matte Foundation

It’s not often I say this but the day has come… I have found a new foundation that I absolutely love. I always struggle to find foundations I am happy with, I have oily/combination skin so I like them to be really mattifying with no shine at all. For the last couple of years I have sworn by MAC’s Matchmaster foundation (and I still do, see my review here), but now I have found a more affordable alternative – The Loreal Infallible Matte Foundation.

I have seen quite a few reviews about this so far and the feedback is very mixed, I knew I had to try it for myself as anything with the word mattifying appeals to me and the affordable £6.99 price tag was very tempting as well. I went for the shade Vanilla which luckily was a good match, I definitely recommend trying out the product on your hand to make sure you get the right shade as I do think it looks a lot darker in the packaging.

I really like the packaging of this foundation, it comes in a tube with a long nozzle which allows you to really control the amount of product coming out.

When I applied the foundation the first thing I noticed was how quickly it dries on the skin – you really do have to be quick when blending it in. It is quite a creamy formula and when it dries it gives a powder–like finish. This kind of finish is great for oily/combination skin and is exactly what I look for in a foundation, if you are looking for shine control and have fairly smooth skin I definitely recommend trying it. However, if you have dry skin I don’t think this is the foundation for you, as it is so matte and dries so fast it would draw attention to any dry patches.

It gives a good medium coverage and has such a lightweight feel which is one of the things I love most about this foundation – it didn’t feel cakey at all which I sometimes worry about with really matte foundations. I definitely recommend moisturising well before applying this foundation, even though I don’t have dry skin on my face at all it can feel a little bit dry after putting it on if you don’t moisturise. As for whether or not it lasts 24 hours, I can't say as I don't leave my makeup on for that long!

This is definitely a foundation I recommend for the summer months due to its really lightweight feel on the face, I can see myself getting a lot of use out of this. It has already become my everyday go to foundation and I will be saving my MAC matchmaster for special occasions as it is much pricier. The oil control really is amazing and I have been finding I don’t need as much powder. If this is what you are looking for I seriously recommend trying it. I know it can be risky trying out new foundation but the great thing about this is the price is so reasonable. If you don’t like it, you won’t feel like you have wasted too much money - but hopefully like me you will love it and have discovered an absolute bargain considering how good the quality is.

Have you tried this foundation as well? What do you think?
