What I Got For Christmas 2014

I probably say this every year but I can't believe Christmas is over already. I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I stayed with family in London for Christmas and had such a nice time. I am now back home in Wales but only for a few days as I am moving to London permanently on the weekend! I wrote a while back in my graduation post that it is my dream to move to London and I am so happy to say it is actually happening. I have a new job starting on 5th January so there are lots of exciting times ahead I hope. I will be very busy over the next few weeks with moving and sorting out accommodation and I am hoping this won't affect my blog too much, but there may be a few less posts than normal.

I thought it would be a nice idea to share with you what I got for Christmas this year. I know some people hate these kind of posts but I have to say I love reading them and having a nosey at what every one has had for Christmas. I am so grateful to all my family and friends who have spoilt me this year and I am not showing off in anyway, I'm simply sharing this for all you other bloggers out there who like to have a nosey like me.

My parents bought me the Canon 100D which I have had my eye on for awhile. I have always had an interest in photography but never really got into it until I started my blog, so I am hoping this will improve my blog photos a lot and I am so excited to use it.

Anyone who knows me knows my obsession with makeup and so I did receive a few beauty products for Christmas which I absolutely love and can't wait to try.

Bobbi Brown - Warm Eye Palette
Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Brick
Topshop - Lip Bullet
Chanel - Bronzer
Illamasqua - Blusher
Urban Decay - Naked Palette

Some other goodies I received are these gorgeous nail varnishes, the Britney Spears Fantasy perfume which has been a favourite of mine for years and these Eylure eyebrow dye kits which I can't wait to use.

I always love receiving items like gloves and hats as they are so useful and I don't normal get round to buying them for myself. I got these leather gloves and white hat from Accessorise which I love and will be so useful. I  was so excited when I saw these Michael Kors earmuffs as I have wanted some  earmuffs for awhile. I have already worn them for a dog walk and they are so warm and just perfect for this cold weather.

Not surprisingly I was given some pink items for Christmas and these pamper goodies will be so useful to take with me when I move to London.

A Barbour coat is something I have wanted for so long now but have never been able to justify spending that much money on one. When I opened this present from my boyfriend I was so shocked as I was not expecting it at all! I love the fur detail on the collar and that is it black so will go with everything. I will definitely be wearing this a lot.

I received this absolutely stunning gold crop top which is so pretty, I love the sequins and I think  might wear this for New Years Eve.

Last but not least I got some lovely chocolate goodies. There was a couple more but I may have already tucked into those! Christmas is the perfect excuse to not feel guilty eating chocolate and I have definitely been making the most of this.

That's everything I got for Christmas this year, I am so grateful to all my family and can't wait to try out all my new products, especially my new camera.

What did you get for Christmas? If you have written a post like this I would love to read :)

Sleek Makeup Haul & Review

Awhile back one of my lovely friends lent me her Sleek eyebrow stylist to try out, and ever since then I have been wanting to get my hands on one for myself. On a recent trip to Cardiff I finally went into the Superdrug store that sells Sleek to pick up one and whist I was in there I spotted a deal they had, which was spend £10 and get a free 'Matte Me' lip cream. Obviously being a makeup addict I had to take advantage of this deal so decided to also purchase a blusher, bronzer and highlighter set which I have had my eye on since I saw some great reviews of it.

Eyebrow Stylist - £5.99
I am such a big fan of this eyebrow stylist and I have found myself using it every day now when I’m in a rush for work as it is so quick and easy to use. It comes in light, medium or dark and the one I have is medium. This is quite dark, so if you are blonde I would probably recommend light, unless you are like me and like your eyebrows quite dark, then medium is definitely suitable.
It comes in a design which you twist at the bottom to release the crayon which makes it quick and convenient and you don’t have to worry about sharpening. The formula is so creamy and applies easily without the need for lots of pressure when applying. By pressing lightly you can get quite a natural looking brow, or if you like a more defined look you can achieve this as well pressing harder. This means it is great for daytime and evening looks. It also has a small brush on the end which is a bonus and allows you to blend in the product well once applied.

The only down side about this product is that it does seem to run out quite quickly. However, at the price of £5.99 I don’t think it’s too bad as you don’t feel like you’ve wasted lots of money on a product which hasn’t lasted long.
Face Form Contour Kit - £10
I am always looking for products which are convenient for traveling when you have limited space, so I love a good palette! This contour and blush set from Sleek caught my eye when I was browsing as I loved the design. The packaging is small and compact and not bulky at all. It also contains a mirror which is really useful. I chose the shade 'light' as I thought it best suited my skin tone.

It comes with a matte bronzer, a shimmery champagne highlighter and a shimmery pink blusher. Both the bronzer and highlighter are very pigmented and great quality. I have been comparing this to my Bourjois bronzer and highlighter duo and both bronzers I really like, but I definitely prefer the highlighter in the Sleek palette as it is much more pigmented and gives more of an effect. Out of the three in this palette the blusher is my least favourite, I have found it is not as pigmented as the bronzer and highlighter, and I usually prefer a more subtle matte blusher instead of shimmer.

Overall this palette is great and I feel like you get so much for your money, I will definitely be taking this with me when go I away for Christmas.

Matte Me Lip Cream - £4.99

Finally is the free lip cream I got with this purchase, I was already excited about this as I love a freebie and it normally retails at £4.99 so I was even more excited when I tried it out and discover it is also a really good product. This lip cream is matte which I have never tried before and it is great.  It provides a really pigmented colour which dries on the lips very quickly and last a long time. It is very matte so I probably wouldn’t recommend this if you have quite dry lips as it could dry them out even more. But then again if you are looking for a really long lasting colour this is great and you could pop some lip balm on top to moisturise your lips.

As you can see the colour I chose is a very bold, bright hot pink shade and it is just as bright when applied. I absolutely love this colour but obviously it isn’t for everyone and they did have lots of other shades to choose from.

I can’t believe I have never tried Sleek makeup until now, I have seen so many good reviews on other blogs and have been meaning to get something for a while. I really love all three of these products from Sleek and is now a new favourite brand of mine.

Do you like Sleek? Have you tried any of these?

Yankee Christmas Candles

I am such a big fan of Yankee candles, there are so many gorgeous scents and over the last couple of years a Yankee candle has become a permanent feature in my bedroom. When I get my own house in the future I can just picture all different Yankee candles throughout the house, with relaxing ones in the bathroom and fresh scented ones in the kitchen.  The packaging is always so pretty and I would just love to colour coordinate them with the rooms (yes I am a bit obsessed). Anyway, the last couple of weeks we have had some Christmas Yankee candles in the house and I have been really loving them. So I thought it would be a nice idea to share them on my blog and keep the Christmas themed posts coming!

My two absolute favourites are Snowflake Cookie and Christmas Cookie. The design on the glass jar is so pretty, I love the beautifully decorated cookies and it gives a really festive feel. The scent of the two candles is quite similar, they are both very sweet smelling so perfect if this is what you like. I definitely love anything sweet smelling which is why I love these so much. Christmas Cookie is vanilla scented which is absolutely gorgeous and reminds me of 'French Vanilla' which I have had from Yankee in the past.

Another Christmas Yankee candle we have in our house is 'Apple and Pine Needle'. I didn't think this would be much to my liking as I don't normally like the scent of apple but I was very wrong! This candle smells gorgeous, the scent of the pine needles comes through and it smells so fresh and just like a Christmas tree. The scent of the apple comes through as well which gives it a lovely fruitiness to it and the two smells go together so well! The packaging of this candle just shouts Christmas to me with the traditional green and red colours and pine needle picture. If you don't have a real Christmas tree this candle is exactly what you need to bring the gorgeous smell of one into your house.

Yankee candle have so many different festive Christmas candles to try. Some others I really like the look of are 'Candy Cane Lane' and 'Christmas Eve'. Have you tried any of these candles? What do you think? What are your favourite festive candles?

Fake Bake 5 Minute Mousse

£19.99

Let me introduce you to my new favourite fake tan... Fake Bake 5 Minute Mousse. I bought this a couple of weeks ago when I had almost ran out of my current fake tan, and I always like to try out new ones. I was browsing Debenhams as they had 10% off tans and I wasn't really sure which one to choose at first. This particular one appealed to me as it it claims to give you a tanned look (without waiting for it to develop), completely dry in only five minutes and I was very intrigued to see if this actually works. I also like the fact it is a mousse, this is my favourite type of tan as I find it much easier to apply.

The first thing I noticed about this mousse is how quickly it comes out. I pressed the nozzle to release the mousse and it came flying out. So this is just a quick warning if you are thinking of trying this out, you only need a slight bit at a time! Despite this, once I worked out the best amount of pressure to use I realised how lovely the formula is. It is a really lightweight, smooth, fluffy mousse which is so easy to apply. It comes with a pair of black gloves to blend it in with as you can see below. These gloves are quite thick and much better quality than some other gloves I have used for fake tan and they are also great as you don't lose any product which can sometimes happen if you are using a mitt and it sinks in.

This tan has a speed-dry formula which definitely works, it drys super fast which is so great, I hate sitting and waiting for fake tan to dry! It claims to be the perfect 'party tan' and I can see why. If you are like me and like to apply a quick layer of fake tan before you leave the house for an evening out, this is exactly what you need. It is dry within minutes and from what I could see it didn't rub off onto my clothes. The only downside to how quickly it dries is that you really do need to be quick rubbing it in, otherwise there is a risk of streaks.

As for the colour, it provides what I would say is a medium shade and is very golden/ bronze. By this I mean is is a noticeable difference in skin colour, but not too dark, still fairly subtle and not orange at all which I have found some instant tans to be.  I am happy with the colour after one application but I'm sure it could be built up to provide a darker shade if needed.

One thing I really love about this tan is that as well as being instant, it continues to develop after applied, so after washing it off in the morning you are still left with a layer of colour. This is a win win for me!

Overall, I am really impressed with this tan and I am really happy I have discovered it, this is exactly why I love trying out new fake tans as there are so many good ones out there. It it slightly on the expensive side at £19.99, but you do get a lot of product and compared to some other brands I think its fairly reasonable.
Have you tried this tan? What do you think? Are there any others I should try next?

Gift Guide For Him #CountdownToChristmas

I know from my own experience and from speaking to friends and family that buying present for the men in our lives is not an easy task! It can be quite easy to please a women with items such as make up, bath goodies, jewellery etc - however a man is not so easy! I'm sure I'm not alone in saying that. So, I was happy when I saw that a 'Gift Guide For Him' featured in the #CountdownToChristmas series as I have found reading other bloggers gift ideas very helpful, and as it is a task a lot of us girls struggle with, I hope my ideas can provide some help.

1. San Miguel Gift Set - £5 - I have noticed that a lot of supermarkets and department stores have a wide range of alcohol gift sets available. I think this is great idea for a man, as most of them probably like some form of alcohol and would be happy with a set containing their favourite drink and a glass to go with it. There are lots to chose from, I spotted this San Miguel set in Tesco whist browsing but they had many others so you can chose their favourite drink which would make a great present.

2. Beard kit - Notonthehighstreet.com - £29.50 - I spotted this Beard Kit on notonthehighstreet.com and it caught my eye. If the man in your life has a beard I'm sure they would be grateful for some grooming products to look after it. The box and packaging of this set is lovely and stylish and would make a great present to open on Christmas day. I also love the line on the front 'For my beardly beloved' - does anyone else find this quite amusing, or just me?! Little things....

3. Yankee Candle  - Midsummers Night -£19.49 - I'm a lot of men wouldn't admit it but I'm pretty sure they would love a nice candle for their room -  as long as it isn't too girly smelling. This Yankee candle is called 'Midsummers Night' and it smells gorgeous, it reminds of a men's aftershave and is so refreshing.

4. Hugo Boss Gift Set - £39.99 - You just can't go wrong with an aftershave as a Christmas present for a man, be that a boyfriend, brother or Dad I'm sure they would love a nice new aftershave. Boots have some lovely gift sets which come in lovely presented boxes and there are some great deals. This Hugo Boss aftershave is one of my favourite scents for a man.

5. Argos - Leather Bracelet - £19.99  - A piece of jewellery may be a good present idea for a man as it might be something they would like but wouldn't necessarily go and shop for themselves. I love leather bracelets on men and I love this real leather bracelet which I spotted whist browsing Argos.

6. Lush - Dirty Springwash Shower Gel - £4.75 - I'm not sure if lots of people know that Lush have a range of products that are great for men, as it always seems so pink and girly. However, last Christmas when I was looking for presents for my boyfriend I discovered the mens range. There really are some great products available - such as, shaving creams, soaps, shower gels, hair gels and other goodies. The 'Dirty' range is my favourite for men, it smells very minty and fresh and is definitely appropriate for a man. It comes in a shower gel, soap, hair cream and shave cream.

I hope this little guide has helped you if you are struggling with Christmas present ideas for the men in your lives!

Favourite Seasonal Drinks #CountdownToChristmas

Gingerbread Hot Chocolate (Image source)
Honey and Almond Hot Chocolate (Image source)
Champagne (Image Source)
Bucks Fizz (Image Source)
Mulled Wine (Image source)

The next in the #CountdownToChristmas series is all about sharing your favourite seasonal/ festive drinks. I m excited to see what drinks everyone is loving this Christmas and here's a few of my favourites.

Gingerbread Hot Chocolate – one of my all-time favourite Christmas drinks is a Gingerbread Hot Chocolate. I am not really a fan of tea or coffee so hot chocolates are normally my hot drink of choice during the Winter months. I first discovered Gingerbread syrup a couple of years ago after seeing it advertised in Starbucks and Costa on their festive menus and I have been hooked every since. It is normally advertised as a Gingerbread Latte which I do sometimes have if I need a caffeine kick, but if you don’t like coffee you can ask for it as a hot chocolate which is absolutely gorgeous. This is very sweet so I only recommend to those who have a really big sweet tooth like me! You can also by Gingerbread syrup in most supermarkets so you can make your own at a much cheaper price.

Honey and Almond Hot Chocolate – another hot chocolate I have just discovered is honey and almond from Starbucks. When I saw this on the menu this year I thought I would try someone new as it sounded gorgeous, and thankfully I was not disappointed! This drink smells like Christmas, it is definitely one to try if you are a hot chocolate lover like me.  The presentation of this drink in Starbucks was so pretty as well, it came with some lovely chocolate cream on top and chocolate bits.

Champagne / Bucks Fizz – it wouldn’t be Christmas without some celebratory drinks and champagne is definitely special which we always have in our family on Christmas day. It is also a little tradition in my house that we have some bucks fizz in the morning with breakfast which I absolutely love.

Mulled Wine – last but not least which definitely has to have a mention is mulled wine. This is such a classic festive drink, but not actually one I liked until recently. It’s still not my favourite as I’m not a massive fan of red wine, however last year I really enjoyed having some mulled wine now and again. It is great for when it’s cold outside to warm up and it makes me feel really Christmassy.

Do you like any of these drinks? What are your favourite seasonal drinks?

Over the last few weeks I have been really enjoying reading other bloggers gift idea posts, it is such a great way to get some present inspiration. I was excited to see that one of the posts in the #CountdownToChristmas series was a gift guide for her as I love looking at all the different gifts and sets that are around. These are all products I absolutely love and would be great for the ladies in your life - be that a mum, sister, friend or maybe a secret santa present.

1. Lush - Little Snow Fairy Set - £8.50 - I don't know one girl that doesn't like Lush products and I know Snow Fairy is a favourite for many, this set contains Snow Fairy show gel and a Snow Fairy bath bomb.

2. Yankee Candle - Christmas Cookie - £19.49  - If you want a non - beauty related product then a candle is always a good option. I am loving the Christmas themed ones at the moment and Christmas Cookie is one of my favourites.

3. Benefit - Goodies-a Go Go - £19.50 -  Benefit do some lovely sets which are beautiful presented and quite reasonably priced. This particular set contains some gorgeous eye shadows and They're Real mascara which I am a big fan of. I'm sure any makeup lover would be very happy to open up one of these gift sets!

4. Body Shop - Coconut Beauty Bag - £12.50 - I am a big fan of the Body Shop skin care products and the Coconut scented ones are my favourite. I spotted this set on the website which is a great gift idea, they have lots of others to choose from as well and there are some great discounts at the moment.

5. Vivabox - Fragrance Selection - £37.99 - I first came across this on Carly's Beauty World and I thought it was a wonderful present idea. If you aren't sure what perfume to buy someone, why not give them a cute little selection to choose from? The packaging is gorgeous as well.

6. Nails Inc. The Holiday Edit Set - £15.00 - Finally is this Nails Inc set, you can't go wrong with some nail varnishes as I'm sure most of us love them. Nails Inc have lots of lovely sets but this is definitely my favourite, I love the colour section and the pretty red bow on the packaging.

Christmas Wishlist #CountdownToChristmas

1.              Urban Decay Vice Palette – I came across this eye shadow palette a few weeks ago after seeing a few blog posts about it and I recently mentioned it in my ‘6 Beauty Products I Wish I Could Afford’ post (link here). I am a big fan of Urban Decay eye shadows, I have a couple of the Naked palettes and the quality is amazing. The colours in this Vice palette look so gorgeous and there are so many different looks that could be created.

2.              Canon EOS 100D – I have wanted a new camera for a while now as at the moment I only have my iPhone. Although the quality is good, I think for certain occasions it will be nicer to have a professional camera to allow me to take better photos. I have always had an interest in photography and since starting my blog earlier this year my interest has grown so much more. I have asked for this from my parents and I am so excited to start using it!

3.              MUJI Makeup Storage – over the last year or so my makeup collection has grown quite a bit. I used to store it in small plastic draws which were great for transporting back and for to university and since moving home it has expanded to some of my dressing table drawers. I am now finding myself running out of space in these drawers and I think it is the perfect time to upgrade to some MUJI storage. I think these are so pretty and would love to be able to organise my makeup better and look after it properly.

4.         Dirty Looks Hair Extensions – I first came across these hair extensions after Kayleigh review them on her blog Couture Girl. They look absolutely gorgeous and have a really good selection of colours. There is a shade of blonde on their website which I think would match my hair quite well and I have been wanting to get my hands on these for a while.

5.              Barbour Coat – I have literally wanted a Barbour coat for years, they are so gorgeous and the quality is amazing. They are quite expensive which is why I haven’t bought one even though it has been on my wish list for ages! I do think it would be a good investment as they would probably last for years, I hope to add one to my wardrobe soon!

6.              Pandora Charm - Last year for my 21st birthday I got a Pandora charm bracelet from my family. Ever since I have gradually adding charms to it, with the latest one being a really cute mortarboard for my graduation. There are so many gorgeous charms I have my eye on and it would be great to add another one to it for Christmas.
